How do I register?

Visit our register with us page and complete the enquiry form. One of our team will contact you to arrange a chat with us to discuss your availability, skills, experience and areas that you can travel to. We also require that you have 2 years of experience and hold a valid PVG less than 3 years old. UK employment regulations state that you must be able to provide proof that you are eligible to work in the UK.

Am I employed by Scottish Carers?

Scottish Carers is an introduction agency not an employment agency. You will be working on a Self-Employed basis contracted directly by the client. We will advertise your profile on our website which allows potential employers to read your information and contact you if they decide you are a match for their requirements.

Do I need to pay to join Scottish Carers?

We don’t charge a joining fee unlike many other agencies. We believe in being upfront with costs – the only charge we issue is when receive an enquiry from someone seeking a care assistant and is looking to find out more about you. We will contact the person looking for care to find out more about what kind of care they require before contacting you to advise of the enquiry. We will provide this information to you on receipt of the introduction fee.

Do I need to register as a business?

It is highly recommended that you register via Companies House as you will be responsible for your own income tax and national insurance contributions as a self-employed individual. Scottish Carers is not responsible in any way for reporting your income and expenses.

Do I need insurance?

Again, as a self-employed individual it is highly recommended that you have Liability Insurance in place. As part of our benefits package, we can recommend a selection of reasonably priced insurance companies who specialise in self-employed healthcare workers.

How do I get paid?

You will agree this directly with the client. As you are self employed you can offer the client your preferred method of payment, including Bank Transfer, Cash, PayPal etc.
